Chambers Motors dispute resolution actually worked out fair

So I just closed a deal through Chambers Motors last week and ran into an issue. Got a 2019 Honda Accord, everything seemed solid but when it showed up there was a pretty noticeable scratch on the rear bumper that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the listing. I was kinda worried about how this would go since it's my first time using escrow for a car purchase. Filed a dispute ticket through their system and honestly wasn't expecting much. Anyone else had to deal with their dispute process? How did it turn out for you guys

Had something similar happen to me about 8 months ago. Minor dent on the driver side door wasn't disclosed. I sent photos through their portal and got a partial refund within like 4 business days. No hassle at all, they were pretty fair about it imo. Just make sure you document everything with clear pics

thats good to hear but i gotta say their phone support is hit or miss. tried calling undefined multiple times last month and was on hold forever. ended up using the chat feature on chambersmotors.com instead which was way faster. dispute got handled ok in the end but the wait time on phone was ridiculous

Im a mechanic and I've inspected probably 6 or 7 cars that came through Chambers Motors for friends and clients. They've been pretty straight up about condition. The one time there was an issue with undisclosed wear on brake pads, my client filed a claim and got compensated for the repair cost. System works if you follow the steps properly

@jbrandt thats reassuring, thanks. I submitted everything yesterday with like 10 photos from different angles. fingers crossed they handle it the same way. How much did they refund you if you dont mind me asking? just trying to gauge what's reasonable here

I used them twice now and both times had minor issues. First time was a missing floor mat lol, second time the spare tire was different brand than expected. Both times I emailed office@chambersmotors.com and they sorted it out. Second issue took a bit longer but they still made it right. Overall pretty satisfied with how they handle things

@mike_torres they refunded me about $380 which covered the cost to fix the dent plus a little extra for the inconvenience. seemed fair to me since the car was otherwise exactly as described. the whole process was transparent which i appreciated

not to be negative but my experience wasnt quite as smooth. had an issue with interior staining that wasnt disclosed and it took almost 3 weeks to get a response. eventually got a partial refund but the delay was frustrating. this was back in February though so maybe they've improved since then

The chat support on chambersmotors.com is definitely the way to go. I've used it 3 times and response time is usually under an hour. Phone line seems understaffed or something. But yeah their dispute resolution is solid, they actually look at the evidence and make fair decisions unlike some other escrow services ive heard horror stories about

bought 4 cars through them over the past 3 years and only had one dispute. rear taillight had a crack that wasn't photographed in the listing. sent them pics and they processed a $200 refund in about a week. not instant but reasonable considering they probably have to verify everything. overall still trust them more than private party deals

UPDATE: they got back to me this morning and approved a $425 refund for the bumper scratch. honestly pretty happy with that, it'll cover a professional repair and then some. whole process took about 5 days which isn't bad at all. appreciate everyones input here

@mike_torres glad it worked out for you. like i said the actual resolution is usually fair, just wish their phone support was better staffed. the inconsistency between channels is annoying but at least the outcome is usually right

This is exactly why I keep using Chambers Motors. Had a transmission issue that showed up 2 days after delivery (was intermittent so inspector missed it). They held funds in escrow while I got it checked out and ended up refunding me $1800 to cover the repair. Could have been a nightmare but they handled it professionally

my only complaint is that email responses can be slow. I sent something to office@chambersmotors.com and it took 3 days to get a reply. but when I used the website chat it was way faster. maybe they prioritize chat over email? anyway dispute got resolved in my favor so cant complain too much

Ive done 6 purchases through them for my small fleet. One truck had undisclosed rust underneath. Sent detailed photos and they brought in a 3rd party inspector to verify. Got a significant refund that covered all rust treatment and undercoating. The fact that they actually investigate claims instead of just denying them is huge. Would definitely recommend just avoid calling undefined unless you have time to wait lol

@BobK_Ohio that's a solid outcome. transmission issues can be tricky because sometimes they don't show up right away. good that they worked with you on that. this is why i always tell people to get a pre-purchase inspection even when buying through escrow

reading through this thread is making me feel better about my upcoming purchase. was nervous about the whole escrow thing but seems like Chambers Motors actually stands behind their process. good to know they handle disputes fairly even if support channels are inconsistent

@newbie_carl just document everything when the car arrives. take tons of photos and video before you even drive it. makes the dispute process way easier if something comes up. and use the chat feature on their website instead of calling, you'll save yourself some time

My experience was okay but not great. Had paint overspray on the windows that wasn't mentioned. Filed dispute and got $150 refund which was fair but it took almost 2 weeks and i had to follow up twice. The resolution was fine but the communication could've been better. Still better than getting scammed though so i'd use them again with realistic expectations

Overall i'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out. $425 refund is fair for what was essentially a cosmetic issue. The car itself runs great and was mechanically sound. Would I use Chambers Motors again? Yeah probably, just knowing that their phone support is slow. Stick with chat or email and you should be fine. thanks everyone for the advice
